Tariff Updates - July 9th, 2025
Dear Valued Roaster Client,
This is a follow-up to our May announcement, providing an update on the evolving tariff situation and maintaining timely communication. The tariffs remain in effect, with most countries currently subject to a 10% tariff on all imports to the U.S. However, we are beginning to see notable exceptions emerge, particularly in Malaysia, South Africa, Vietnam, and China. We continue to closely monitor these developments. StoneX acts as the importer of record for green coffee and is responsible for paying the tariff amount to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Uncertainty remains around how the trade tariffs will be implemented. While it is possible that different countries might successfully negotiate with the administration, and tariffs could change. The Green Coffee Association (GCA) terms and conditions, incorporated into industry contracts, outline that any tariff or duty imposed on goods is passed through to the buyer of the coffee.
In the interest of complete transparency, here is what we are doing now and will continue to do moving forward:
· Tariffs will continue to be listed as a separate line item on invoices at the time of delivery for any coffee subject to a tariff.
· For all SPOT coffee purchases, we will continue to inform you at the time of sale if the coffee is subject to a tariff.
We want to assure you that we are committed to transparency throughout this process and will keep you informed of any changes to your pricing as they occur.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or any member of our team. We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Jolene Zehnder
