Get to Know Bruno

Updated on

Bruno joined StoneX Specialty Coffee as Specialty Coffee Coordinator in Brazil, bringing with him a lifelong connection to coffee that began growing up on a coffee farm in Jacuí, a small town in southern Minas Gerais.

From an early age, Bruno experienced every stage of coffee production firsthand while watching his father manage a farm. From planting and harvesting to post harvest processing, coffee quickly became both a passion and a career path.

In 2009, Bruno visited the quality department of Cooparaíso, a large coffee cooperative in Minas Gerais, where he discovered the world of coffee quality evaluation and decided to dedicate his career to specialty coffee. After completing a nine month internship focused on quality control and cupping, he joined the cooperative full time and continued building his expertise over the next several years.

At just 19 years old, Bruno became a judge for the Minas Gerais State Coffee Contest, evaluating coffees from across one of the world’s most important coffee producing regions. In 2015, he joined Monte Alegre Coffees, where he deepened his knowledge of specialty coffee production, processing methods, and flavor profiles. That same year, he earned certification as a Cup of Excellence judge.

Bruno has participated as a Cup of Excellence judge across multiple competitions and was selected to represent Brazil during the international phase of the competition’s 20th anniversary. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on connecting customers with exceptional Brazilian coffees while supporting the producers behind them.
