The Story Behind Excelso EP 10

Colombian Medellin Excelso EP Green Coffee Beans from Mercon Specialty

Colombia has long set the standard for washed Arabica coffees, earning a reputation for exceptional consistency, vibrant acidity, and remarkable balance. Sourced from a network of smallholder producers across the country's renowned coffee-growing regions, Colombian Excelso EP captures the approachable character that has made Colombian coffee a favorite among specialty and commercial roasters alike.

Coffee is grown between 1,200 and 1,900 meters above sea level, where mountain elevations, abundant rainfall, and ideal growing conditions encourage slow cherry development and balanced flavor. After harvest, the coffee is fully washed using Colombia's traditional processing methods, preserving the clean structure, sweetness, and clarity that define the country's classic cup profile.

Prepared to European Preparation (EP) standards, each lot is carefully sorted to minimize defects and ensure a uniform, reliable green coffee. The Excelso grade offers the consistency and versatility professional roasters depend on, delivering predictable performance across a wide range of roast profiles and brewing applications.

The result is a clean, balanced cup with bright citrus acidity, gentle sweetness, and a smooth body, a timeless expression of Colombian washed coffee that performs beautifully as both a single origin and a blend component.
