The Story Behind Polished Grade 1 Robusta

Vietnam's reputation as the world's leading producer of Robusta coffee has been built by generations of smallholder farmers who continue to refine both quality and production practices. Across the country's Central Highlands, families cultivate coffee on farms typically ranging from one to three hectares, delivering freshly harvested cherries to centralized mills where they are carefully processed for export.

Sourced from Lam Dong Province, this Grade 1 wet-polished Robusta showcases the progress of Vietnam's quality-focused coffee sector. Grown between 700 and 800 meters above sea level, the coffee benefits from fertile volcanic soils and favorable growing conditions that consistently produce robustas with exceptional structure and character.

Following processing and drying, the coffee undergoes an additional wet-polishing step that gently removes residual silverskin and surface material from the green beans. This specialized preparation creates a cleaner appearance, greater screen-size uniformity, and enhanced consistency for roasting and blending. Produced to stricter grading and defect standards than conventional commercial robustas, it offers the quality and reliability sought by today's professional roasters.

The result is a full-bodied cup with notes of dark cocoa, roasted nuts, and brown sugar, balanced by a clean finish that performs exceptionally well in espresso blends, cold brew, and modern robusta-focused roasting programs.
