The Story Behind Decaf Grade 1 Washed SWP

Peru Cerro Blanco Gr1 Organic Green Coffee Beans from StoneX Specialty Coffee

Across the highland regions of northern Peru, thousands of smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on steep mountainsides where cool temperatures and high elevations encourage slow cherry maturation and exceptional cup quality. Sourced from regions including Cajamarca, Amazonas, and Piura, this Grade 1 Washed coffee reflects the collective craftsmanship of Peru's small-farm producers, delivering a clean, balanced profile that has become a hallmark of the country's coffee industry.

After harvest, ripe cherries are carefully depulped, fermented, washed, and dried using traditional processing methods that preserve the coffee's clarity and structure. The green coffee is then decaffeinated using the Swiss Water® Process, a chemical-free method that relies solely on water, temperature, and carbon filtration to remove up to 99.9% of the caffeine while protecting the coffee's natural flavor and aroma.

By combining high-quality Grade 1 coffee with one of the industry's most respected decaffeination methods, this lot offers the familiar character of a classic Peruvian washed coffee without compromising its origin. The result is a smooth, approachable cup with notes of cocoa, subtle fruit, and a balanced body, an ideal choice for roasters seeking a dependable decaf that performs with the consistency and quality of a traditional specialty coffee.
