The Story Behind Finca El Jardin Bourbon Natural ML

Finca El Jardín is the lifelong project of Mario Samuel Mejía, a fourth generation coffee producer dedicated to creating exceptional coffees from the Montecillos region of Honduras. Established as a family inheritance in 1981, the farm spans 20 hectares and serves as an important source of employment for local families throughout the year and during harvest season.

Environmental stewardship is central to the farm's philosophy. Organic fertilizers produced from coffee processing byproducts are used alongside complementary nutritional practices, while carefully managed shade and timber tree plantings help preserve water resources and protect the soil from seasonal weather extremes.

This Bourbon microlot is processed using the traditional natural method. Freshly harvested cherries are taken directly to the drying patios, where they dry slowly for 15 to 25 days. This extended fruit contact contributes to the coffee's remarkable sweetness and complexity, creating a very bright, delicate, and dynamic cup with notes of strawberry melon and peach.
