The Story Behind Finca El Jardin Bourbon Natural ML

For Mario Samuel Mejía, coffee is more than a profession—it's a family legacy. As a fourth-generation coffee producer, Mario has dedicated his life to cultivating exceptional coffees that reflect the beauty and character of Honduras' renowned Montecillos region. Established as a family inheritance in 1981, Finca El Jardín has grown into a 20-hectare farm that not only produces outstanding coffee but also provides meaningful employment for local families throughout the year.

A deep respect for the land guides every decision at Finca El Jardín. Coffee byproducts are transformed into organic fertilizers that nourish future harvests, while thoughtfully managed shade and timber trees help protect the soil, conserve water, and create a healthier growing environment for generations to come.

This Bourbon microlot is produced using the traditional natural process, with freshly harvested cherries dried slowly on patios for 15 to 25 days. The extended contact between the fruit and the seed allows the coffee to develop exceptional sweetness and remarkable complexity while showcasing the full character of the variety.

The result is a vibrant, elegant cup with notes of strawberry, melon, and peach, offering a lively expression of Montecillos and the craftsmanship that has defined Finca El Jardín for generations.
