The Story Behind Finca Los Pinos HHT Washed ML

Some of the most remarkable coffees begin with a simple idea. In 2013, Renardo Ovalle planted coffee across several high-elevation plots in Santa Bárbara, Huehuetenango, naming the farm Los Pinos after the towering pine trees that define the landscape at more than 2,000 meters above sea level.

What began as an experiment soon revealed the exceptional potential of the region. Today, Los Pinos cultivates Caturra, Bourbon, and Pacamara varieties, each benefiting from the unique combination of altitude, volcanic soils, and mountain climate that shapes the coffee's distinctive character.

Located near Huehuetenango, Santa Bárbara experiences slightly drier conditions than much of the surrounding region, creating an environment that encourages slow cherry maturation and concentrated sweetness. Combined with elevations reaching over 2,000 meters above sea level, these growing conditions produce the vibrant acidity, layered complexity, and refined cup profile that have made Huehuetenango one of Guatemala's most celebrated coffee origins.

Harvested between January and April, this coffee reflects both the curiosity that inspired Los Pinos and the craftsmanship that continues to define every harvest.
