The Story Behind Grade 1 Washed Conventional

Peru Cerro Blanco Gr1 Organic Green Coffee Beans from StoneX Specialty Coffee

Peru's northern highlands are home to generations of smallholder coffee producers whose dedication to quality has made the country one of the world's most respected coffee origins. Sourced from growing regions such as San Martín, this Grade 1 Washed coffee reflects the consistency and craftsmanship that define Peru's coffee-growing tradition.

Coffee is cultivated between 1,200 and 1,600 meters above sea level, where cool mountain climates encourage steady cherry maturation and balanced flavor development. Producers grow traditional varieties including Caturra, Catimor, and Pache before carefully harvesting ripe cherries and processing them using Peru's time-honored fully washed method. Through pulping, fermentation, washing, and careful drying, each lot preserves the clarity, sweetness, and structure that have become hallmarks of Peruvian coffee.

The Grade 1 classification reflects strict physical preparation standards, ensuring the uniformity and reliability professional roasters depend on. While these coffees are sourced through producer groups and cooperatives that bring together export-ready lots, they remain rooted in the traditional farming practices passed down through generations, supporting rural communities where coffee continues to be both a livelihood and a way of life.

The result is a clean, balanced coffee with dependable sweetness and versatility—equally suited as a reliable blend component or a classic single-origin offering that showcases the approachable character of Peru.
