The Story Behind Minasul Pulped Natural - João Newton Reis Teixeira - 2nd Place

In 2019, Fazenda do Pinhal, located in Santo Antônio do Amparo Minas Gerais, was honored with the prestigious Sustainable Farm Award, recognized as the most sustainable farm in Brazil. This achievement is a testament to the farm's unwavering commitment to both the environment and the future of coffee farming.

Spanning 446 hectares, Fazenda do Pinhal is home to a remarkable 42 percent preserved area, where a perfect harmony exists between coffee plantations, eucalyptus groves, and native forests. From the sky, the aerial view reveals a seamless coexistence of nature and agriculture. In 2011, the farm partnered with the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation to plant 110,000 seedlings across 70 hectares, ensuring a future filled with thriving ecosystems.

Fazenda do Pinhal’s sustainability efforts continue with a dedicated space for the rehabilitation and release of wild animals, further strengthening its commitment to biodiversity.

Sustainable practices extend to every aspect of agricultural operation. With certified Arabica coffee, the farm has not only enhanced the value of its products but also reduced consumption of water, fertilizers, pesticides, and fuels. Solar panels now generate clean energy for the farm, lowering its environmental footprint and setting a benchmark for responsible coffee production.

Fazenda do Pinhal also invests in the future by maintaining strong partnerships with local schools. Students participate in tree planting initiatives that encourage environmental responsibility and a deeper connection to nature.

Fazenda do Pinhal is more than a coffee farm. It is a living example of how coffee can thrive in balance with nature. Every cup from this land tells a story of sustainability, innovation, and a deep respect for the planet.
