Peru Cerro Blanco Grade 1 Organic

Flavor notes: Bright and floral, citrus, peach, milk chocolate, light caramel

In the lush, misty hills of Northern Peru, nestled in the San Martin region, lies a small village called La Victoria, home to the Cerro Blanco farmer association. Born from the dreams of 10 families in 2020, Cerro Blanco began as a shared vision – a promise to honor their rich land and protect its natural beauty. Named after a majestic nearby mountain of white sand, Cerro Blanco stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to sustainable farming and environmental conservation.

Vietnam Son La Washed SHG

Flavor notes: Good acidity, spicy, cocoa, herbal, medium body, cocoa finish

Son La is in northwestern Vietnam and is known for Arabica cultivation. The region spans 2,000 hectares and produces 60,000 bags of coffee per crop. Located at 700-1200 meters above sea level, this region is known for its Catimor varietal, which thrives in local conditions. Catimor flourishes here without irrigation due to ample sunlight and rainfall. Sustainable farming practices minimize water use conflicts. High altitudesand seasonal shifts enhance the coffee’s flavor. Fertile soils and regular rain improve bean quality and resilience.

This Vietnamese specialty coffee cooperative is committed to sustainability, social upliftment, and gender equality. The manager, Ngoc Anh Sprunker, is also the Vietnam chapter's chairperson of the International Woman Coffee Association (IWCA).

Mexico SHG Organic

Flavor notes: Good body, citrus acidity, clean, sweet cocoa, and roasted nuts

This organic coffee comes from GRAPOS, a farmer group in the Tapachula and Comitan regions of southern Chiapas. GRAPOS started in 2007 with only 90 producers and has since grown to represent over 4,600 farmers in 2023. This represents over 300 communities in the region and a total organic production of over 100,000 quintales (100kg in parchment) per year. These farms are at altitudes of 1300-1800 meters above sea level.

November Market News

In the past 20 days, the coffee market has shown price fluctuations primarily driven by regional weather variations and shifting global supplies. Arabica coffee prices rose slightly in early November due to concerns over dry conditions in Brazil’s Minas Gerais, the key Arabica-producing region.

In the past week, we have seen historic rises in the C market, with a 50-cent increase since the beginning of November.

Additionally, recent reports indicate congestion at Brazilian ports, which could impact exports and keep supply concerns in play through November.

Robusta prices have also been affected by weather, particularly in Vietnam, where heavy rains have complicated the harvest and processing stages, reducing supply. Vietnam’s output is expected to be lower this season, which may add upward pressure to Robusta prices in the coming weeks if adverse weather continues.

Looking ahead, November could see more price volatility as additional rain is forecasted for key regions in Brazil, potentially benefiting crop health yet adding supply pressures. With the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday and shifts in the U.S. dollar’s strength impacting commodity prices, we should be prepared for continued fluctuations in the near term.
